This product contains:
1. I’m a Little Pine Tree Poem/Song
2. Sentence Segmentation/C.O.W. (Concept of Word): Practice touching the dot under each word when speaking or singing the poem. This can be facilitated with a small group and/or for whole group review using a pocket chart. I use these activities with my phonemic awareness intervention group.
3. Substitution/Rhyming auditory patterning: Here’s how you facilitate this skill. There is a little rhyme, “Come rhyme with me. What ends like tree?”
4. Shades of Meaning for little is a vocabulary exposure activity. The teacher reads the words and students match the word up with the size of the tree. Put the trees and words in order from the “biggest” little to the “smallest” little.
