This mini unit will introduce students to science and scientists. They will see themselves as scientists and describe and sort common classroom objects.
There are 2 read aloud books in this unit. If you decide not to purchase them, both are available at the library or on YouTube.
Some teacher provided materials are required but can be optional or flexible if necessary.
Whole class, small group, independent, and partner activities are included.
Establishing clear rules and expectations is important. In this unit, a science cheer is taught to the students that can become part of an established opening or closing routine. Students will begin to explore objects and question their properties. This is also a good time to establish routines for exploration and small group/partner work.
The goal of these lessons is to make teaching science fun and engaging for students and less time consuming for teachers. Please leave feedback, as it is a useful tool in helping me achieve that goal.
