The 25 words targeted (considered kindergarten level) include:
The activity can be done with the teacher/adult or independently (as in literacy center). The student is given a model of the sight word paired with a picture to aid in meaning and to create quick association. The student then looks through a set of 25 words and highlights or circles the ones that match the sight word model. All other choices are similar in appearance, which therefore hones the students visual discrimination skills. Each word has its own answer key so that the student can check their work independently. Once the student is rapidly able to correctly identify all the words in the group of 25 that match the target word, you can cover the target word and simply call out the sight word for a higher level of recognition and discrimination.
I will be adding another I-Spy activity soon with an additional 25 kindergarten sight words (level 2).
