Julie Moore has created a list of sight words that are required for kindergarteners in her district. There are 9 lists in all. Each list has 10 words. After the first list, 5 new words are introduced and 5 words are review from past lists. That way the student continues to review known words as well as learn new words, so nothing is forgotten. After list 6, it contains 20 words with 10 new words and 10 review words. To pass the list, the student needs to read all 10/20 words in 30 seconds or less. If they accomplish that, the tester goes on to the next list until the reader can't score below 30 seconds. Her students would then take home this list and practice it each night recording their time, so the reader could see if their time was getting shorter. The next week, he/she read the list again to see if their time was below 30 seconds or less. If not, the same list went home again. Each list also has a sentence that includes words that they have seen before, so they can work on fluency at the same time. I hope you like this product and will check out her first and second grade sight word lists as well.
