What's for homework almost daily? Studying SIGHT WORDS!!! With over 100 words that students are required to know, most students struggle with memorizing them. Many of my students with articulation errors often struggle with learning ALL of the sight words they are expected to know. I created this list so that my kiddos could work on two things at once...practicing their speech sounds and learning their sight words.
This pack includes a comprehensive list and 213 flash cards of the sight words required for our Kindergarten students to know. All words in this file are from a combination of CCSS (Common Core State Standards) and the CKLA (Core Knowledge of Language Arts) program. Flash cards are grouped by 23 articulation targets!
Flash cards are labeled with an icon to designate the articulation target (i.e., "king"=/k, g/, "sun=/s, z/, and s-blends, "thumb"= "th" voiceless, voiced). The icon is also labeled with a "K" indicating these are Kindergarten words.
Have the student read the word using accurate speech sound production, and then say the word by itself, put the word in a phrase, or generate a sentence using that word "X" number of times.
~~FOR CLASSROOM TEACHERS~~Learning a new letter/sound this week in class? Put the sight word flash cards containing that letter/sound in one of your literacy centers, around your room, or on your word wall!
Thanks for checking in with the Speech Duo!
