For these units, we used the CPA approach which was developed by Jerome Bruner.
Research has shown that it is a highly effective approach to teaching that develops a deep and sustainable understanding of math. Using the CPA method (Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract) students are given the opportunity to experiment with mathematics in a variety of ways. We used this method as we developed the lessons in this unit.

Each lesson follows an intentional format:
Math Fluency Warm-Up
★Detailed Mini-lesson
★Hands-on Activity
★Math Journal Activities to practice the skill

Each lesson will provide the students with opportunities practice measurement.
