Do you want a fun game to play and learn sight words in your classroom? My kiddos love Find the Polar Bear's Hat game and it is great for a transition time.
It allows for easy differentiation. This resource can be used with students Pre K, K, 1st , 2nd grade, Special Education.
The contents include
Sight word Cards 156
Blank cards to make your own words
Snowflake Top Cards
Line up the sight word cards in a pocket chart or along a tray. Hide the hat in back of a sight word. Now the fun begins, this game is the teacher against the class. The class has 5 guesses if they can guess the sight word the hat is hiding behind, before the 5 guesses, they get a point. If they do not guess in 5 tries the teacher gets the point. I often use more hats so the kiddos have a better chance of winning.
A difference in my teaching is the games we play similar to this. My kiddos were learning their sounds, letters, words, shapes, numbers, and money in an exciting game situation. The kids loved it. The anticipation was high and they were playing while learning! They even asked to play the games during free play.
