This fantastic download includes 41 weeks worth of spelling words/homework for your Kindergarten class.
I used this format with my students all year and their reading and writing skills exceeded my highest expectations!
I made sure to inform the parents that while I would love for each student to earn a 100% each Friday on the spelling test, the real point of assigning these words was to expose my students to as many word families, dipthongs, consonant blends and digraphs as possible. (Although the students were able to earn 100% on almost every test.)
At my school we use the Imagine It! program and it does not include ee, ar, ir, ch, th or any other phonics skill of that nature in the kindergarten curriculum. My thought was why not?
I truly believe that using this format helped my class soar sky high academically compared to my K class last year.
The lists start out with CVC words and advance to many different phonics sounds like silent e words, str, nk, igh, oo, ow, er, ing, st, ir, ur, or, tch and so much more!
You don't have to follow the exact order I did, but I do reccommend starting with the CVC words and then progressing to whatever your students are ready for.
My class loved doing this for homework and classwork.Their parents helped them heavily in the beginning of the year of course, but, by Christmas time they were able to do their homework independently and their parents were thrilled and impressed!
They were writing sentences, thinking of synonyms, and remembering phonics rules. I was sooo proud! My principal was too! :)
I included more than enough words for a 9 month school year. Pick and choose what you want!
