If you're tired of just using flash cards to practice sight words, you'll love this card game.
*40 sight word bear cards and 4 roar cards (print 9 per page)
*Directions for play (see below)
Objective: Be the player with the most points at the end of the game.
Setup: Shuffle all of the cards and place face down in a single pile.
*Determine which player will go first. On each player’s turn, turn over the top card in the pile.
*If the card is a word or sentence card, read it and keep the card.
*If the card is a roar card, the player loses all of their cards and must place them into the discard pile.
Ending the Game: The game ends when the entire deck of cards has been used.
Determining a Winner: Each card is labeled with a point value. All players count their total number of points. The player with the highest number of points wins the game. To simplify, students can simply count the number of cards in their hand.
If pressed for time, set a timer for a specific number of minutes and the count the points players have when the timer goes off.
