*You can start by having the children copy a sentence from the board. Then progress to having them finish a sentence using High Frequency Words, Word Family Words, or sounding out words. Then they can create a second sentence after the model sentence. Then have them write their own sentences. Every time, have them draw an illustration that goes with their sentences. I always assigned coloring as much as possible with writing to make it more fun and to strengthen fine motor skills.
