PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This writing unit addresses the age old question, "What am I going to do today for my writing mini-lesson?" Each mini-lesson helps to build competent, equipped, and motivated young writers!

Target Audience: Kindergarten
*also available in first grade and second grade*

If you have been to my writing workshop presentation, this unit follows the monthly mini-lessons for March and fits into a year's worth of writing mini-lessons.

The unit has an emphasis on developing organized writing through scaffolded writing organizers and thematic seasonal topics

In this unit:

General information on writer's workshop and the mini-lesson
8 easy to follow writing mini-lessons (some lessons will need to be repeated on multiple days due to the complexity or the multiple options of the lessons)
A variety of writing paper templates.

This unit is standards based and has been aligned to the CC and Texas Teks for writing.

Standards Addressed in the January Unit
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.K.2Use a combination of drawing, dictating, and writing to compose informative/explanatory texts in which they name what they are writing about and supply some information about the topic.
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.K.3Use a combination of drawing, dictating, and writing to narrate a single event or several loosely linked events, tell about the events in the order in which they occurred, and provide a reaction to what happened.
