Do your students have difficulty writing a topic sentence by themselves? Do they need more practice to develop independent writing skills? This packet provides writing scaffolds for most of the weekly independent writing projects for CA Treasures.
I did not make a scaffold for every week because some of the projects require picture drawing and labeling which don’t require scaffolding.
Refer to the Teacher’s Edition for each week’s independent writing project and observe the sample Treasures has provided. The scaffolds should be self-explanatory, as they will resemble Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, or Day 5 examples of the 5-Day Writing process. Starting with Unit 3 Week 2, I used a gray font color. This allows the students to trace over the words to practice writing the unit topic phrase or high-frequency words. The students can write the rest of the sentence(s) by filling in the blanks using the words on the lists produced by the class on Day 1 of the writing process.
