These are the Writing Workstation worksheets for January. They cover the high frequency words: see, with, here, that, want, have, my, has, was, were, and, is, play, you, in and do. This series of worksheets is designed to be used for whole group or independent instruction. They follow common core standards and utilize a consistent color, cut, glue, write and illustrate format for purposeful practice.
If you are studying a specific letter, the students can locate and circle that letter in each sentence. The teacher may begin to discuss the progression from letters, to words, to complete thoughts and sentence structure. Capitalization and punctuation rules will need to be discussed.
January brings winter themes. Directional words (North/South/East/West) need to be introduced to students. The Arctic and Antarctic can be located on maps/globes for cross-curricular studies. As always, high frequency, color, shape and number words are a focus.
