Today marks the start of Random Acts of Kindness Week and my students are not always the greatest at being kind to one another. For this reason, I've decided to start a 28-day Kindness Challenge in my classroom tomorrow.
Each student is given a challenge sheet with 28 ways they can be kind at school. I didn't want to include acts of kindness for home, as I cannot monitor those. Since I only have 10 students I will display each child's challenge sheet on the wall in my classroom as a daily visual reminder. If you don't have the wall space for this, you could always have the students keep them at their desks.
As each child completes an act of kindness, they will color in that box. At the end of the 28-day challenge, students that have completed all 28 acts of kindness will receive a kindness certificate and even a prize if you choose to do so. We wear "Be Kind" shirts at my school every Wednesday, so I am planning to give each child that completes the challenge a "Be Kind" shirt and a "Kind" Brand fruit bar.
Challenge sheets and certificates come in two styles; boy and a girl. Certificates are also included in both color and b/w versions.
Good luck with your classroom challenge and remember "Always be kind!"
