This is a 21 slide READY-TO-USE LESSON (no prep) PowerPoint presentation lesson that covers the topic of KINDNESS, BENEFITS OF KINDNESS, & PERSONAL AND GLOBAL IMPACT of kindness. Included are links to 6 videos (some geared to younger students, and some geared to older students) to support the information you are presenting. These are videos that you can mix or match or even skip if you want.
That is the beauty of being able to personalize this lesson for yourself. It is easily adapted to teach different levels ranging from kindergarten to fifth grade. Two of the videos are the books, Kindness is Cooler, Mrs. Ruler, and What Does It Mean To Be Kind?, being read aloud. The first book is geared more toward younger students (PK-1), and the second book is appropriate for all students. The rest of the videos are thought-provoking and entertaining ways to think about kindness, why we are kind, and how it benefits us and others to be kind.
Friendship skills are among the most important that children learn as they grow.
• Physical results of being kind to others
• Emotional and physical impact of being kind
• Being aware of how we can be kind
• The power each of us has to choose
I have found that videos are very effective in helping students to create an emotional link to the abstract concepts that character education involves. Coupled with discussions in which you can assist students to make the connection, it is an easy and effective way to teach these difficult concepts and assist students to internalize them into their own personalities.
Character education is vital to the success of our students. Employers report that the qualities for which they are looking when hiring include the “soft skills” that are character education.
This presentation includes 21 slides which have music, transitions, clip art, and animations to help to hold your students' interest. It is easily personalized and customized and includes a master slide that you can copy and paste into the location where additional information is desired.
You may want to rearrange the slides to make this presentation fit your needs. I have them arranged the way that makes sense for my students, but that may not be the best way for you.
Websites and videos are NOT embedded but are links. I do not own them or control them, so if there is a problem with a broken link or something else, please let me know so that I can repair, replace, or fix the presentation for you.
