Students will think about kindness as they work through this project.
They will identify reasons that it is important to be kind.
They will also make a list of ways that they could be kind to others.
They will use both of these lists to write a persuasive letter or paragraph that will persuade others to be kind to those around them.
They will also create a poem about kindness.
This is a great time to talk about fiction vs non-fiction. You can also talk about text structure as you complete the persuasive paragraph and the poem.
The students could present their letter or paragraph and their poem orally to the class.
You could also have the students create some other kind of project about kindness such as newspaper, rap/song, 3D project, short story, newspaper, etc. There are rubrics included for these projects also.
You could use this project around National Kindness Day in November or Random Act of Kindness Week in February. You could also use this as a class project when you’re talking about kindness or not bullying.
