1. Using a bright colored marker or crayon, students circle three examples of the following types of line found in Van Gogh's sketches: horizontal, vertical, straight, curved, broken (dashed, dotted), thick, thin.
2. Students demonstrate knowledge of the above lines by drawing a small thumbnail sketch of each type in the second half of the worksheet.
3. When students complete worksheet, discuss their findings and how a variety of lines can make an artwork interesting.
Includes three different worksheets, in "color" and in flattened out b&w.
