This hands-on activity encourages students to identify the four basic types of sentences: declarative, imperative, interrogative, and exclamatory. Students will sift through sentences printed on cards and place the cards in the correct column. Finally, students will record their answers on the recording sheet to submit to the teacher for approval. An answer key has been provided for ease of grading.
We have provided you with two options for using this resource. You could either use the sentence cards with punctuation, making the activity much easier, or use the sentence cards without punctuation, requiring students to infer the type of sentence based on other factors. (This also makes a great center activity where students can self-correct when finished.)
