Worksheets are easy to find for rhyme scheme, but what student remembers a boring page? Give them a hands-on, kinesthetic approach to understanding rhyme scheme that will be memorable with this lesson.
Whether you choose to use this as an individual or group project with a final poster to present, or as an independent station, this lesson will have students physically interacting with rhyme scheme.
The lesson features:
Student directions and follow-up questions
A series of poetry lines to use as manipulatives
Students will cut out (physically or digitally) a series of poetry lines and then sort them according to the directions to make poems with given rhyme schemes. Once they make a couplet, a quatrain and cinquain aren't too hard and rhyme scheme becomes simple play.
