These lessons are part of a complete Energy Unit (see link below)but can be taught independently. Two step-by-step Lesson Plans allow students to explore the concepts of kinetic energy and potential energy through a hands-on and engaging approach.
In lesson 1, students will be creating and flying paper airplanes to discover kinetic and potential energy. They will use the data from their flights to create an interpret a class bar graph. This was always a favorite lesson for my students!
In lesson 2, students will illustrate action flip books to further understand kinetic and potential energy. This lesson includes a Flip Book Example (starter page) and a Kinetic and Potential Energy Worksheet & Key.
These lessons are part of the complete Energy Unit over kinetic/potential energy, electricity, light, sound, and heat. It includes 8 lesson plans, 4 experiments with guided worksheets, magnet and electricity centers, and an end of unit assessment.
