This is a lab activity to explore the relationship between height and gravitational potential energy and the relationship between velocity and kinetic energy. In the lab, students collect data once, but use it to generate two graphs to explore the relationships for the two different energy types. This lab was originally used in a 9th grade physical science classroom but could be adapted for middle school or physics use.
Materials used in the lab are common materials (graduated cylinders, balls), substitutions and suggestions for alternative materials have been provided
