This is a 450+ slide PowerPoint presentation with built-in class notes (red slides), activities with directions and visuals, included worksheets with answers, challenge questions with answers, games, three page homework bundle, modified version, answer keys, lesson notes, quiz, and much more. This lesson is filled with many demonstrations / activities and exciting video links / extensions.
Note-Do not purchase this PowerPoint if you have already purchased my Forces in Motion PowerPoint as I have included Forces into this Post.
This PowerPoint begins with a neat activity that gets the students thinking about Potential Energy. A really neat bungee jumping egg activity is described with a step by step procedure. The activity uses plastic Easter Eggs, elastic bands, washers (coins work), and string. Students calculate the PE of the egg, height, drop, etc. to determine the correct length of string needed to drop the egg with bungee to prevent the egg from crashing apart on the floor but still getting within a few inches. describing the first Law of Thermodynamics with a series of unfolding animations. Potential Energy is described and a series of visuals shown. Students are shown an animation of a monkey falling from a tree and catching a banana shot from a cannon. They need to write a sentence that describes potential energy from the animation. They also see another animation of a pole vaulter and describe some potential and are introduced to kinetic energy. The PowerPoint then describes PE=mgh in a step by step process. A series of step by step word problems have students determine Potential Energy. Answers are provides as well as the step by step process of solving the problem. Kinetic Energy is then covered in a similar fashion. Special attention is payed to the order of operations when finding KE= 1/2 M * V2. Another activity that I use with F=MA but pertains to Potential and Kinetic Energy involving different size batteries, heights of ramps, and objects getting hit, is included. A series of video links, centripetal force, and some hidden box challenge games conclude this PowerPoint. This is really neat PowerPoint that includes many hands-on activities. It is challenging but not overwhelming. The activities are spread throughout which makes each day interesting. The PowerPoint then addresses topics about motion and investigates centripetal force witha provided video links, speed, velocity, acceleration, deceleration, momentum, Law Conservation of momentum, work, and more. Several word problems are presented with visuals and the answers are revealed in a step by step process.
This PowerPoint includes critical notes (Red Slides), exciting visuals, challenge questions, activities with directions and more. Text is usually placed at the top of the slide so it can be read from all angles of a classroom. Color coded slides, as well as a shade technique is used to increase student focus and allows the teacher to control the pace of the lesson. These PowerPoints are meant to be interactive as possible and ask many questions, provides built-in review opportunities, explains directions to activities, and much more. Transition effects are never used.
