This download includes three valuable and enjoyable activities that will add depth to my King Arthur resources or to your own study of King Arthur and/or medieval literature.
The first is a simple video guide for the A&E Video about King Arthur available on YouTube.
The second activity is a medieval action figure assignment. Students must plan for medieval powers, accessories and "collect them all" other figurines. There is a comical action figure template, or you can provide blank paper for students to draw their own after completing the planning guide.
The third activity is tied in with the final one (see below) but can function on it's own too. Provided you will find the "rules" to medieval romantic love/chivalry/code of conduct. After reading and discussing students do well to work together to write a modern code of conduct. When asked to write about romantic love and nonromantic love they tend to come up with some pretty awesome ideas.
The final activity is probably the most popular - an individual coat of arms. Instead of looking up their family's true coat of arms students must examine the meanings of different colors, patterns, and charges before creating their own coat of arms. I highly recommend allowing students to trace the charges as some are rather complicated. When allowed to trace the animal the overall quality of the products are higher, and students tend to be rather proud of their work.
