In this active learning activity, students are faced with quotes from the play. Their mission is to name the character speaking, and explain in their own words what he/she means.
There are 66 key quotes from the play for students to explain (Act 1 - 10, Act 2 -10, Act 3 - 16, Act 4 - 18, Act 5 - 12). This is a Word document so editable to suit your class. There are 19 pages for students to complete. The solution is 10 pages long.
I find this quite challenging activity works well to focus students' attention on the detail of what is said. It is a useful way of reinforcing the plot, and what characters say/think. They have to work hard at this exercise.
