PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

7th grade lesson social studies lesson about Medieval Europe designed for the Common Core. In it students read information sheets on King Richard (of Crusades fame) and his brother King John (of Magna Carta fame) and determine which was the better king. It isn't as obvious as one might think. The lesson challenges students to identify bias and cite evidence to support a conclusion.

This lesson is designed to be completed collaboratively. Students in groups of 4-6 are given each of the two dossiers. Each student is given a copy of the question sheet. They analyze the documents together and then complete the ARE argument as their final product. It will take about 1 hour.
