Teach students to analyze song lyrics in a critical, engaging, and meaningful way.
Using the song "Kitchen Sink" by Twenty One Pilots, students complete a rhetorical analysis of the lyrics through a series of guided questions.
♦ A copy of the lyrics chunked into smaller parts
♦ Guided discussion questions
♦ A graphic organizer to manage ideas
♦ Written analysis questions, and
♦ A YouTube link to the song
This can be used throughout the school year, but I typically use it during the first week back to school as we talk about finding purpose in the ELA classroom (which is one of the themes within the song -- finding purpose)
A Word Document and a PDF version are included.
