Students are going to love this engineering and design project! This STEAM activity incorporates science, technology, engineering, arts, and math along with reading and writing skills! Students will be asked to research the wind cycle and different forces that work together to keep kites in the air. They will graph wind speed data, compare and contrast wind cycle and water cycle, measure in inches, find perimeter and area, use research to defend their design choices, and use the engineering design process to engineer and fly their own kites! Students will use 21st century skills to create successfully flying kites and will work together to improve their designs if they do not succeed on the first try. This is the perfect project based learning activity to keep your students actively engaged while incorporating several different subjects and skills!
