Product Description
This song,co-written with Bill Prince is keyed to produce a mathmatical feel for 3 + 2 or a 5 beat combination. Knees are patted or patsched on the first beat, hands clapped on the second beat, fingers snapped on the third beat, Patsch on fourth beat and clap on beat five which gives a 3 + 2 feel to the music. This can be done with partners by clapping own hands on beat one, clapping partners right hand on beat 2 and 3. Clap own on beat 4 and the partners left hand on beat 5. The words of the song describe the actions and after a little practice these all seem quite simple. These activities were inspired by jazz musicians such as Dave Brubeck who experiments with mixed meters. I have other songs in this collection which deal with 7 beat patterns which are built on 4 and 3 beat combinations. These rhythms require complete focus and attention on the task while having a great time moving. These activities are very appropriate as a change of pace from other class activities which may call for more sedentary posture. The jazz improvisation in the music is very cool and satisfying.
