Product Description

Which number doesn’t belong? That’s the framework for my UNIQUE

and ENGAGING Knock Out Task Cards™. This critical-thinking activity

provides good practice in understanding the use of the greater than and

less than signs. Your students will figure out which number(s) they can

insert to make the number comparisons true and which number to

"knock out" (X Out). They have to think about this!

I've included 2 levels for differentiation:

Level 1 – One number comparison

Level 2 – Two number comparisons

Early in the year, students may benefit from using number lines or

120 charts to help them with the value of each number.

Knock Out Task Cards™:

• require lots of critical thinking and deductive reasoning

• build number sense

• build fluency with numbers

• make kids think!

I use these cards in various ways, and I like to listen to the rich math

discussions between students as they try out different strategies and solutions.

My Knock Out Task Cards™ are very versatile. Here are a few

suggestions for how to use these cards:

✓ math center rotation

✓ SCOOT game

✓ early-finisher activity

✓ walk-the-room activity

✓ assessment (1.NBT.3) (use a subset of cards)

✓ independent seat work (organize in a pocket folder)

✓ in a sub tub

✓ end-of-year review
