Knowing Your Math Skills: Middle School Boxes and Dots
Do you know students their important math skills? This getting to know you Math activity contains a dots game sheet, a student score sheet, and teacher key. This is geared for middle school students in any level math class. Students will play a friendly game of Dots and Boxes while using their learned math strategies. It is a fun and challenging task to see who can own the most boxes. Strategic and entertaining way to prepare your students for other math related Boxes and Dots game, while giving you quick data on your students’ math skills!

Directions:
Players take turns by joining two vertical or horizontal adjacent dots by a line. They continue to do this until one of them completes the fourth side of the square, owning the box. That player answers the problems If the answer is correct that player earns one point. Player also initials the box, and gets to go again. When all the boxes have been complete, the game ends. Both players tally up their points, the player with the most points wins.
