Looking for quick and easy activities to teach or review place value with numbers to 120? This pack includes 15 activities that are perfect for games, stations, or independent work. Here's a look at what's included:
Count and Expand: Students will look at the place value cards and count the place value blocks to see what number is shown. Students will write the number, the number word, and the expanded form on their recording sheet in the box with the matching letter on their card.
Order Up: Students will cut and paste number cards on a sentence strip or on a piece of bulletin board trim in order from least to greatest or greatest to least.
Place Value Picture: Students will create a picture using the place value blocks. After students build their picture, students will write the value and expanded form on their picture.
Flip Flap Book: Students will roll a di and write the number in the tens place on their book. Students will roll the di again and write the number in the ones place. Under each flip, students will draw that number using either tens or ones. At the bottom of their flip book, students will write the expanded form for their number.
Practice Pages: Students will cut, and paste numbers by comparing, ordering, and expanded form.
Number Puzzle: Students will match the number, place value blocks, and number words together to complete each puzzle. They will record their answers on the recording sheet.
Number Walk: Students will “walk” around the room answering the problems on each card. Students will record their answers on their recording sheet.
Roll It: Students will roll two (or three di) depending on how high you want the number. Students will record the number they roll, draw the number, expand it, and add ten more on their recording sheet.
Flip It: Students will build each number, draw their hundreds, tens, and ones, and write the expanded form under the flip in their journal or on a piece of construction paper.
Four in a Row Sort: Students will cut out the labels, number, number words, place value, and expanded form and glue them together in their math journals or on a piece of construction paper.
Number Buddy Craftivity: Students will choose 1, 2, or 3 of the digits to create their number buddy. Students will write and draw the different ways to make that number (money, place value blocks, tens frames, addition and subtraction problems, etc.)
Connect Four: Students will cover the number on their game boards that they flipped over. This is a two player game.
Show It: Students will read the number on the card and record (draw) how many hundreds, tens, and ones they need for each number in the box. They will record their answers in the box with the matching letter on their card
Number War: Students will each have a stack of cards. They will flip over the top card and compare the two numbers. The player with the highest card gets to keep both players cards.
Ten More/Ten Less: Students will spin a number on the spinner board, write that number, and decide which number is 10 more/10 less.
Make a Match: Students will flip over a number card and a place value card. If they find a match, they keep the cards. The student with the most cards at the end of the game wins!
