This multisensory bundle has been designed to support students in the early stages of reading, including students in the first and second grade that are behind with sound knowledge of consonants. It is a bundle filled with activities to develop letter name identification and sounds, through a variety of activities, including a multitude of pictures, phonemic awareness activities, and more.
This multisensory bundle was created from materials used and created while working with a second grader lacking knowledge of most consonants. Have you ever worked with a student in the early grades that has yet to master individual consonants and short vowel sounds? If yes, then you know how challenging it is to develop appropriate multisensory resources to support struggling learners. The good news is this bundle has everything ready to go!
This multisensory bundle is a great resource for students that do not have enough skills in their reading repertoire to do traditional OG lessons - this lesson provides activities that a teacher can use over a longer period of time, to support student growth. It is a resource that comes ready to be printed and used. If you have access to a laminating machine, many of the materials can be laminated for repeated use.
One of the aspects of this bundle is each consonant has pictures with the consonant sound that can be used one-to-one; small group; or whole group. Additionally, the pictures are included in smaller version so students can work with a partner, parent, teacher or aide, to continue with skill development.
Each consonant lesson includes a phonemic awareness activity, to support students as sounds of each consonant are developed! Since students may need to learn the letter names, before learning the sound, activities are included.
Please take a moment and go through the preview file to see an example of a consonant, along with other activities included in the bundle. Each consonant has the same format and that helps reduce student confusion, as they progress through each consonant lesson.
It is my hope that you find this multisensory bundle a "treasure trove" of activities to support student academic growth. Until a student can identify single consonants, the ability to read is delayed.
Be sure to come back to my "shop" in May to preview the companion multisensory resource that focuses on short vowels. The format is the same, including pictures, phonemic awareness activities and more. Having a similar format helps reduce the time taken by students to understand the expectations.
