Thank you for previewing this multisensory lesson which includes a student activity that can used repeatedly to support a student's memory - leading to an eventual automatic understanding of the concept Y at the end of a one-syllable word makes the long vowel sound of "i."

This multisensory lessons are based on the principles of the Orton Gillingham approach, a multisensory, explicit, sequential, and cumulative approach, which incorporates over-learning and a continual review of presented skills. The design is considered a structured literacy approach that is supported by the IDA.

This "product" includes:

Multisensory introductory lesson with visual support; phonemic awareness activity; word list, oral reading fluency practice; sentences, writing development activity; reading passage practice; and a student listening activity to develop this skill, along with development of memory, language and processing. Additionally, there is an opportunity for students to draw to support strong visualization abilities.

Students with special needs, or other challenges, including visual spatial, processing, and memory difficulties, may become visually overstimulated with background visuals. So, please be aware that in this lessons there may pages missing background. to support all types of learners and academic needs.
