Thank you for previewing this multisensory lesson which includes a student activity that can used repeatedly to support a student's memory - leading to an eventual automatic understanding of the concept Y at the end of a one-syllable word makes the long vowel sound of "i."

This multisensory lessons are based on the principles of the Orton Gillingham approach, a multisensory, explicit, sequential, and cumulative approach, which incorporates over-learning and a continual review of presented skills. The design is considered a structured literacy approach that is supported by the IDA.

This "product" includes:

Multisensory introductory lesson with visual support; phonemic awareness activity; word list, oral reading fluency practice; sentences, writing development activity; reading passage practice; and a student listening activity to develop this skill, along with development of memory, language and processing. Additionally, there is an opportunity for students to draw to support strong visualization abilities.
