This is a review game to go over the concepts of bonding before a test. Some topics include: ionic and covalent bonds, ions, valence electrons, Lewis Structures, molar mass, empirical formulas, percent composition, and electronegativity differences.
Students are in 3-4 teams, with one person who is designated as the Captain, who may “buzz” in in order to be able to answer. The first team to “buzz in” gets to answer.
Each correct question answered, earns one “Throw,” which will be redeemed 3 times throughout the game for possible “Points.”
Every “Throw” time, one member of each team goes up to the line marked to shoot from, and tries to make baskets in the container. Getting the ball or bean bag into the bucket, earns a “Point.”
One student needs to be score keeper, to keep track of how many “Throws” each team will get, and then how many “Points” are earned.
SET UP: Tape a line on the ground to throw from. Place the bucket on a table or stool a few yards away from the line.
• 1 Bucket (As large or as small as you would like. The bigger, the easier to score.)
• 3-5 small balls or bean bags (holding bin for these is optional)
• 4-5 individual whiteboards with markers
• 3-4 “buzzers” (recommended as Neon Index Cards)
