“Knowledge and Understanding” is a specific criterion of the individual oral presentation that students must give as part of the IB English course. By unraveling the components of the first criteria, students can acquire a greater appreciation of the expectations associated with that particular component. The PowerPoint and workbook (which is the first in a series of four) look at notions of context, narrative, story, plot, genre and style. A clarification of terms is provided and practical examples and tasks are given to help illustrate the concepts. Students are then encouraged to apply the principles to any extract they must examine.
There are several other titles in this series which complement and build a fuller profile of the IB Oral:-
