Are you looking for Kodaly music reading songs using standard notation on the staff? Do you need lessons that provide differentiated activities for varied abilities and multiple grade levels? Your students will love these performance activities while being actively engaged reading solfege and treble clef note names. Activities include singing, playing pitched/unpitched rhythm instruments, and playing recorder. Also included are short, simple, written “Take it Home” pages designed to complete and practice at school and share at home.

This Music Literacy Series uses Movable Do preparing students to read music in any key. Key changes are presented in a simple, easy-to-understand manner making the concept common place. Information is presented “just-in-time” in order to focus student attention.

Not Rhythm Syllable Specific: The lessons in this Music Literacy Series do not dictate the use of one specific rhythm syllable system. You may use any rhythm reading system with these lessons, Kodaly, French Time, Gordon, Takadimi, or Numerical.

  • Two unpitched percussion patterns
  • Two pitched percussion patterns
  • Three different versions of recorder notation including all note prompts, note change prompts only, no prompts
