Template Description and Instructions:
The game was designed on Microsoft Office 2016 PowerPoint and depending on your software, may or may not work on a MAC. It should however, work on all PC compatible software even if you have a different version of Office. If you have trouble opening this template on a different version, let us know. We will try to send you a version compatible copy.
Save the original template in a save place. Never alter it in any way. Make a second copy of the template with a different title before you open it and make any changes.
The Kooky Class template has a total of forty-nine slides. Slide one is the introductory slide. Replace the word “Topic” at the top with the title of your game.
The game instructions are on slide two.
Slide three is the “Game Board” slide. Do not edit or move anything on this slide. If you do the game will not function properly. There is a link to the directions and to the winner’s celebration on the game board. Do not make any alterations to these either.
Slides four through thirty-nine are the thirty-six “Character Questions” or multiple-choice question slides. Paste or type in your question over the “/” symbol. There are three answer options, “a”, “b”, and “c”. Two of them are the incorrect answers. The correct answer must be pasted or typed next to the letter with an additional “c” for correct. Make sure to delete the additional letter “c” after putting in your answer. Each of the answer options is linked to either the “continue playing” slide (the correct answer) or the “wait for another clue” slide (the incorrect answer) so the answer order is very important!
Slide 40 is the reward or field goal spinner, slide 41 is the receive your reward slide, slide 42 is the punishment or detention spinner, 43 is the receive your punishment slide, slide 45 is the you get a punishment or incorrect answer slide, slide 47 is the you get a reward or correct answer slide, and slide 48 is the winner celebration slide. Do nothing with any of these slides. Slides 44 & 46 appear to be blank. They are links to the following slides. They are there for formatting reasons and must not be moved, removed or edited in any way.
In a nutshell, all you have to do is paste in your title on the first slide then paste in your questions and answers on the appropriate slides. Leave the other slides alone and all should function perfectly well.

If you’re having trouble getting this PowerPoint to work, be sure to “Enable Macros” when opening the file. If you don’t see a box when you open PowerPoint, your security settings may be set too high. In this case, go to the “Tools” menu and select “Options.” Click on [Macro Security…] and then select “Medium.” Press OK until you return to the show. Now save this file and then re-open it. You should now receive the dialog shown above. Click “Enable Macros”

This game features a game board with nine student emoji characters, Prankster, Nerd, Class Clown, Wallflower, Cheerleader, Valedictorian, Jock, Teacher’s Pet, and Artist. You can play with up to eight individual players or eight teams. Each character on the game board has squares numbered 1-4. These are links to the thirty-six-character questions (multiple-choice questions). Each character also has a group of boxes for players to mark the square as theirs, and a scoreboard to keep track of their points. The game includes an introductory slide with the topic, a you get a punishment slide (incorrect answer), a you deserve a reward slide (a correct answer), a reward or field goal spinner slide, a receive your reward slide, a punishment or detention spinner slide, a receive your punishment slide and a winner celebration slide for a total of forty-nine slides. All of the slides have sounds triggered by a button or transition to the slide. Every game slide has buttons to go back to the game board or the instructions.
How to Play:
If you play with teams, choose them randomly by whatever method you wish. Each team must select a team captain that will call out characters, question numbers, question answers, and square selections for the group. With each turn the captain can be rotated to keep all players involved. You can also play with eight singles/groups or give more than one character to a player or group. Just do whatever suits your class’s needs best. Players must choose a player/team letter on the scoreboard to represent them.
Each character has four number boxes with links to one of the thirty-six-character clues or multiple-choice questions. Clicking on a box will take players to the corresponding clue or question.
Players will take turns answering clue questions. If the correct answer is given, the players are automatically directed to the “You Deserve a Reward” slide. If the wrong answer is given, they are directed to the “You Get a Punishment” slide. This takes out any guesswork as to whether the answer is correct or incorrect.
When players are on the “You Deserve a Reward” slide, they must click the “Go to Field” button in the upper right-hand corner. This will direct them to the “Field Goal” spinner slide. They need to click on the spinner to activate it and re-click on it to make it stop. Players must now remember the coordinate the spinner stopped on, then click on the “Get Your Reward” button on the bottom left-hand side of the screen. This will take them to the “Receive Your Reward” slide. Players will click on the picture square that corresponds to the coordinates the spinner landed on. This action will reveal their reward.
With correct answers players will also go back to the game board, choose a character, and select their player/team letter to make it appear in the center of the letter group. This marks the square as theirs. If another team has previously taken ownership of the square, the next team can steal the square by clicking on the previous owner’s letter box on the side of the “Eliminate” box. This will make the previous owner’s letter disappear. The player/team then clicks on their letter to add it to the center box to steal the square. The player/team must also manually add the number of points won according to their reward in their scoreboard box.
When players are on the “You Get a Punishment” slide, they must click the “Go to Detention” button in the upper right-hand corner. This will direct them to the “Detention Room” spinner slide. They need to click on the spinner to activate it and re-click on it to make it stop. Players must now remember the coordinate the spinner stopped on, then click on the “Get Your Punishment” button on the bottom left-hand side of the screen. This will take them to the “Receive Your Punishment” slide. Players will click on the picture square that corresponds to the coordinates the spinner landed on. This action will reveal their punishment.
With incorrect answers players will also go back to the game board and manually deduct the number of points lost according to their punishment in their scoreboard box.
After the players add or deduct their points, play automatically passes to the next player/team. The next player/team has the option to answer the previous question or a new one. This means that all questions are in play for the entire game. Note: Players may have a negative score by typing in a “-“ before the number. Return all the scoreboard numbers to “0” before exiting the game.
If a player/team chooses a question for the second time and answers correctly again, that player/team may return to the character box and steal back. This creates the “Kooky” in” Kooky Class. Players/teams can steal squares back and forth in an attempt to get own three boxes in a row, horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
There are a couple of ways to score the game and determine a winner. The easiest way is when a player/team owns three squares in a row, and has/have the most points they become the winner. The second option is to set a time limit for the game. The player/team with the most points when time is up, wins.
Regardless of the scoring method, the winning player/team gets to click on the “Winner Celebration” icon on the game board to celebrate!
