These are a fun asset to your Literacy Center area for students to practice using teh correct inflectional ending of verbs, while also having the ability to self correct! This set of 20 poke cards include various sentences that are missing their verb. Students will have 3 answer options to choose from in order to determine which spelling of the verb has the correct inflectional ending.
These “poke cards” require some prep work before students can effectively use them, and an additional purchase of "straws" which can be found in the party section of many department stores such as Target. You can even adapt these into clip cards using clothes pins if you wish!
First, print the cards on card stock paper that allows for more durability and laminate them. Cut out all of the cards and use a hole punch to punch through all of the blue dots underneath of the answer choices. Using a permanent marker, circle the correct answer slot on the back side of the card. Target sells “straws” in their party section that are made with cardboard and come in many colors and fun designs! Students will use the straws to simply read the sentence, select the correct spelling of the verb, and “poke the ending”! The best part is, students can self assess by turning over the card to see if they are correct!
Included within this product are pictures which can guide you as to how to set up your poke cards!
