This product includes two tree silhouettes (one labeled with the Greek root "graph" and one labeled with the Latin root "aud") and 18 corresponding leaves (9 of which contain words with those roots, and the other 9 with the definitions of those words).
Students will work to determine or clarify the meaning of words using the known root word as a clue to the meaning of the word containing that root (ex. recognizing the root word "aud" in the word "audience" to determine its meaning). The students will first match the leaves with the words to their corresponding definitions, and then lay the pairs with the appropriate tree based on the root word which provided a clue to the definition.
Also included within this product is a log for students to record their answers, and the corresponding answer key.
I have taken a file folder, glued the cover page of this product on the front, and on the inside, glued the trees on either side, and then attached a baggy to the back of the folder containing the leaves. After laminating, this has become a quick, low-prep literacy center!
