This Mineral Identification Lab gives students the opportunity to handle and test a minerals various properties. Using their observations, students will use the Earth Science Reference Tables page 16 to help them identify each mineral. There are six discussion questions.
The PowerPoint provides pictures of 8 minerals (pyrite, galena, sulfur, feldspar, olivine, quartz, calcite and halite), step-by-step guidance on determining the mineral name using ESRT page 16, and an answer key.
