I developed this lab as a simple one-period laboratory exercise in determining the relative humidity and dew point temperature using a sling psychrometer. I demonstrate the use of the sling psychrometer in the classroom as a demo and then students work in pairs to take measurements outside or in school location of their choice. The important take-away message from this exercise is that the closer the air temperature and dew point temperature are, the higher the relative humidity and the more likely the chance of precipitation. This is an especially good lab to use when its actually raining or snowing! There are 7 analysis/discussion questions for students to answer after they are done with the data collection.
