Suitable for Grade 1 Daily and Seasonal Changes and Grade 2 Air and Water in the Environment.

Resources and Activities included;

• Weather Word Wall - Cut apart for puzzles at centers, keep intact for your word wall or on a binder ring. BW version included.

• Quel temps fait-il? Use this page to record the daily weather for the month.

• Quel temps fait-il aujourd’hui? Weather wheel in colour and and BW. Indicate the weather for the day and fasten directly into interactive science notebooks too!

• Prévisions météo à 5 jours pour… (add the name of your city) Make weather predictions for the week.

• Les 3 états de l’eau - Interactive notebook page to glue into a science notebook. Write or draw examples of each of the 3 states of water under the flaps.

• Le mesure des préipitations par pluviomètre ou nivomètre - Depending on the season, make a gauge to collect rain or snow. Teacher Instructions are included. Record the results on the response sheet ‘Il pleut’ or ‘il neige’ for the week.

• Describe how living things, including humans, adapt to daily and seasonal changes.The graphics will help stimulate ideas.

• Ways living things are dependent on water and air. Label and/or describe each situation.

• Cloud Viewer - Students will use this viewing window for observing types of clouds they see in the sky.

• J’observe des nuages - 8 types of clouds and their relative elevations.

• J’observe une semaine de nuages - Observe the clouds daily for a week. Students will sketch what the clouds look like in one half of the cloud shape and identify the type of cloud on the other side.

• Je fais des nuages - Provide your students with cotton balls and white glue. Students should gently pull the cotton to look like the cloud type and glue it into the box. They can use the page from their notebooks or the cloud viewer as a reference.

• Instruments de mesure météo - Interactive notebook page. Identify 6 devices used to measure the weather.

• Word Wall of Weather Instruments in Colour and Black & White - Post these during your unit, have them available at centers and when preparing the interactive notebook page. The printable copies could also be glued into student notebooks for reference.

• Je mesure la température - Record the temperature over the course of the week for any month of the year.

• Ma giroutte - Make a Weather Vane! - Teacher instructions are included.

• Le cycle de l’eau Wind Sock Craft - Make a wind sock showing the stages of the water cycle! Attach streamers to the bottom and hang them from the ceiling! Teacher instructions are included.

• Le cycle de l’eau - Interactive; cut and glue the labels to the appropriate parts of the water cycle. Add this mini page to portfolios or glue into science notebooks.

• Cloud Maze - Find your way through the maze and collect letters to spell ‘pluviomètre’. Write the letters inside the raindrops.

• Sun Maze - Find your way through the maze and collect letters to spell ‘thermomètre’. Write the letters inside the suns.

• Énergie éolienne - Fact sheet for discussion and notebooks. Learn about wind turbines and how we use them as a ‘clean’, renewable energy source.

• Un moulin à vent! Make a pinwheel using the template then find some wind and try it out! Teacher instructions are included.

• Investigating the floatability and absorbency of solids. Use these graphic organizers to focus your hands-on science discoveries.

• Culminating Task: Je peux construire un objet flottant sur l’eau! Graphic organizer page to help students plan and report on their project.

• Investigating mixtures: What happens when I mix different combinations of solids and liquids? Students can test and then write and draw their observations.

• Tout mélangés! Examples of mixing solids and liquids to make useful substances. A ‘blank’ graphic organizer is also included for students to add their own examples.

• Rester en sécurité - Recognizing international safety symbols. 2 versions are included; one with a word bank for students to help them label each symbol correctly, and a second page that can serve as an answer key or pre-organized handout with brief explanations of each symbol.

• Rester en sécurité (Part 2); Checklist for students to learn how to stay safe at home and also how to protect the Earth by properly disposing of liquids and solids that can be harmful to the environment.
