LEAD21 Reading Supplement ~ Gr. 1 ~ Roll, Read, and Write ~ Spelling ~ Word Game
These Roll, Read, & Write word game printables are designed to reinforce the spelling words taught in the first grade LEAD21 Reading Program. This supplemental packet contains one word game page for each of the stories included in the series. Each printable contains 6 spelling words that coordinate with that week’s spelling pattern. (The first game sheet is used as a review of the words: see, do, you, he, is to.)
Play is easy. First, the student predicts a winner, guessing which word he/she will roll the most. Then, the student rolls a die, reads the word from that column, and writes the word neatly in that column. Play continues until a column is filled. The student fills in the winner on top. Was the prediction correct?
This game can be played individually, but partners are lots of fun! (My kiddos like to play with partners... friendly competition, of course!) I love to use this activity as a Literacy Center. The students are so actively engaged in the game, that there are fewer interruptions during instruction of guided reading groups.
Just a WARNING.... You may want to run a few extra copies off, because my students love to play this game several times during the week! They even ask to take some sheets home for homework!
This packet includes spelling, reading, and handwriting practice all rolled up in one fun package! And.... it’s for one whole year!! Don’t miss out!
Thank you for your interest!
