Description of the Program
We are excited to offer the LEAPS (Learning Early Academic/Prerequisite Skills) program to your child. The goal of the program is to help prepare your child for academic success. The focus of LEAPS is to expose children to early literacy, math,
writing, and social interactions with peers. Your child will be exposed to fun, interactive,hands-on skill building readiness and social skill activities during your child’s school day. These activities will be carried out in small groups for approximately 15-20 minutes once per week.
The complete LEAPS program will consist of lesson plans for the letters of the alphabet, numbers 1-10, and writing the uppercase letters. In addition, parent letters for the program following each lesson, ideas for home activities, and Take Home Activity bags to continued practice of the letter and letter sounds after they are taught.
The program was originally designed for preschool to increase inclusion of preschool students in special education with other preschool programs. The program however could be used alone with students in the general education setting.
Look for free samples of each component of the program and then the complete program will be available for purchase in the near future.
