Are your students having a difficult time hearing the difference in sounds between long vowels and short vowels? These posters I have created will definitely help with this problem! In my classroom, I have these posters up on display so that the students are always able to refer to them. When I first introduced short vowels i showed my class each slide with the letter, picture and word and explained to them that whatever sound the letter makes in the beginning of the word is the sound the short vowel makes. I of course show them what I mean, really stressing the vowel sounds. If you do this everyday or a few times a week for a few weeks, your students, just like mine, will have short vowel sounds down! THey will associate the sound with the picture they remember seeing and it works every time!!!
