Prior Learning: Students are familiar with vocabulary for sports, equipment, leisure activities and hobbies.
Assessment Objectives:Students will demonstrate the ability to:
1. identify vocabulary for sports, games and hobbies
2. determine what equipment is necessary for leisure activities
L3: Apply knowledge of language functions in order to affect comprehension and expression across contexts.
L4: Extract meaning from unknown words and phrases using context clues, word parts, and appropriate references.
L6: Acquire and apply general academic and specific vocabulary necessary for college and career readiness; use language independently to increase fluency.
R1: Read closely and state meaning of text. Give specific examples from text to support conclusions.
R3: Analyze culture through history, media, and culturally informative texts.
R5: Use structure of text, text components, and formatting to assist in understanding the text.
R7: Combine and evaluate information from different sources, including media. Use media in various forms to enhance comprehension.
