LETTER RECOGNITION CENTER: Ducks in a Row
Let your students take a “quack” at getting their Ducks in a Row
with this fun, hands-on, literacy center. Your little learners will practice print concepts and phonological awareness by assembling the duck puzzles. Each duck puzzle has 3 parts: 1 with a picture, 1 bearing the upper case letter with which the picture starts, and 1 with the corresponding lower case letter. This activity is aligned to the CCSS:
There is one duck for each letter of the alphabet. Each white, consonant-bearing duck
utilizes the primary sound of that consonant
. (Soft consonant sounds are not included.) The yellow ducks
present the long sound of the vowels
. (Short vowel sounds are not included in this set.) Use these duck puzzles throughout your study of letters and sounds, placing an appropriate number of ducks at the center as determined by the age and stage of your students.
