The holidays…what a great time to learn how to write letters!! Writing Santa is not only magical but it is a great way to harness that excitement for letter writing! This set contains everything you will need to teach your lesson.

The Goal: This letter encourages letter writing and increases the spirit of Christmas.

Who will like Letters to Santa?
You will find it fits most students in Kindergarten through Second Grade depending on their levels of abilities and needs.

What is inside this product?

  1. Posters or charts to use for your Smartboard: Parts of a Letter and How to Address an Envelope.
  2. Letters to Edit: Edit letters with your students, and have them follow along with you. Use the color version for your Smartboard and the black and white version for your students.
  3. Vocabulary Words and Word Bank: “Parts of a letter” words are included in this set of vocabulary words. There are also common words (words that your students may use in their letters to Santa) that you can set up in a “Dear Santa” word bank.
  4. Activity Sheets: These activity sheets and organizers will help your students learn the parts of a letter, practice editing, or brainstorm.
  5. Stationary and envelope templates: These templates will help your students go from brainstorming what they want to say to writing the letter that Santa will actually read. There are several different templates to use for the younger and older student.

Teacher Preparation:

Just print, laminate, and cut out the vocabulary cards and labels. The labels can be used for anchor charts to show the parts of a letter and students can refer to the vocabulary words for their letters. Just print the pages you need for your students. The colored posters can be used on your Smartboard to review and edit.

Directions for Students:
Learn how to write a letter to Santa. Learn the parts of a letter and the job of each part. Find out how to spot and edit mistakes! Now, that you are an expert at letter writing, it's time to write Santa and tell him what you want for Christmas. Create your own envelope and then send it to the North Pole!
