Why Teach an LGBTQ Alliance Group?
It is critical to provide supports for youth in the LGBTQ community by offering them a safe place to talk, learn, and grow. Additionally, this group focuses on building up allies, or people who simply support the LGBTQ community and their rights. LGBTQ youth are at greater risk for harrassment, bullying, assault, dropping out of school, and even suicide. Even today, it's quite common for youth to hear negative comments that target people who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender. Schools and youth groups can play a huge role in supporting youth and allies in the LGBTQ community.

This would be a great set for educators looking to help strengthen the school community to become more accepting and inclusive.
