-Reading Integration: I have created YouTube read alouds for butterfly, ladybug and frog life cycle. I focus on identifying text features and their functions and using strategies to comprehend nonfiction text. These read alouds would tie in great with independent reading activities!

    - Video links: There are other video links included that would be great to show whole group: kid friendly life cycle lessons, real life time lapses, songs, and a directed drawing!

    - Printables: Each life cycle comes with a similar printable activity. Students cut out pictures of the stages of the life cycle and "act out" while watching videos. There is a fill in the blank passage to follow the life cycle. On the reverse side, students sequence and paste the pictures of the life cycle and write out the life cycle process using a word bank.

    -Hands On & Writing Activities:

    • Butterfly: large and small life cycle puzzle true/false sort (sorting facts on butterflies) labeling text features (names of text features given to label a nonfiction article on the pupa stage) coloring/writing page for students to explain the four stages (transition words given)
    • Frog: large and small life cycle puzzles matching the life cycle stages (match words on lilypads with real life photographs of stages) create a frog & label the parts write their frog's "life story"
    • Ladybug: small life cycle puzzle find & cover the false facts (using ladybug dots!) ladybug directed drawing video link - background page given to draw ladybug on "My Ladybug's Life Story" writing
